Book now for UK courses in October 2017
September 18, 2017

Registration now open for 2018 courses in the UK

I'm delighted to announce registration is open for next year's 5-day Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain® workshops in the UK. Learning to draw as an adult may feel impossible but it's not!

"All my friends and colleagues can't believe what we achieved after only 5 days. Really all the credit to you for the fantastic job you did."

You will probably find the workshop challenging at times but likewise you will find it rewarding too. It is rare that we are brave enough to learn something new as adults but we can get so much out of it. Learning to draw is actually about learning to see so the course has the potential to open up many different opportunities beyond drawing alone. If you are up for the challenge then book your place now!

Drawing is a skill that can be learned. You can learn to draw in as little as 5 days. Whether you are a complete beginner or perhaps you would just like to develop your skills and confidence, particularly at drawing from life, then this 5-day Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain® workshop is for you.

Courses are held in central London and north Wales (you can find out more about courses in the USA and the rest of the world at the end of the newsletter). In this newsletter you will find:

  • Information about the content 5-day Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain® course, devised by Dr. Betty Edwards.

Five reasons to learn how to draw as an adult

Did you know that learning a new skill such as drawing as an adult has benefits that go far beyond the skill itself?
      1) Use it or lose it Slow down the cognitive effects of ageing. Learning something new activates new neural pathways in the brain and strengthens existing ones. Studies have shown that engaging in a new activity that is challenging improves memory.
      2) Expand your social circle Learning something new widens our social network introducing us to new people. Drawing can open up connections face-to-face through ongoing groups and classes as well as online – the world is yours to connect with!
      3) Boost your confidence Realising we are never too old to learn something new boosts our confidence in other areas of life.
      4) Improve your critical thinking skills Many of us are very ‘left-brained’ with high verbal and analytical skills. However neglected ‘right-brain’ skills are equally important for critical thinking so redressing this balance enables us to access ideas and wisdom that are not available to us at a verbal conscious level.
      5) Have fun and relax your mind Drawing is a great way to switch off a busy mind so whether you are working or retired, learning to draw will nourish your creative side.

So why not step outside your comfort zone and try something different – learning to draw is actually about learning to see. We learn to see as an artist sees – how exciting is that!
