DON'T MISS: Virtual Life ClassIf you are interested in life drawing you might like to know about the Channel 4 programme ‘Life Class: Today’s Nude’ which has been on daytime tv this past week. Although it’s now finished you can view the five 25-minute episodes online hereThis is a rare opportunity to watch over an artist-tutor’s shoulder as they draw – and they encourage you to pick up a pencil yourself and have a go too – and learn practical tips from anything about how to place your easel to knowing when to stop (according to Maggie Hambling, Andy Warhol used to say he only knew a painting was finished when it sold!). The clock is ticking for viewing as episodes are only held online for 30 days and the first episode aired on 6th July. Please note this is a life class so there is nudity - please don't watch if it will offend. EXHIBITION NEWS...BP Portrait Award 200918th June - 20th September at London's National Portrait Gallery. The BP Portrait Award is a prestigious world competition and yet several of the artists featured have had no formal training. A range of styles are included and regardless of whether you like a particular style personally there is still much to learn from seeing how others tackle this genre. If you can't make it to London don't worry - you can view all the exhibitors online
here (a new window will open)
The 1968 exhibition at the Hayward Gallery attracted 198,000 so expect demand for this one to be high. Advance ticket sales are available now.
